Why are humans so destructive?

Here’s a question I don’t think anyone can definitively answer. Anthropologists would likely point to survival methods long in the past that required some rather destructive, violent behaviors. We certainly don’t need to be as destructive today, but it’s hard to fight Mother Nature’s wiring.

I think humans care simply about surviving; as xmanmonk said, it is in our nature. We think only about ourselves and not of the consequences that might come about because of it. We only feel bad when we see directly what the results of being destructive are.
