China now leads the world in green job creation; in 2009 the Chinese government produced 700,000 green jobs. This is due in part to pressure from the international community to scale back on non-renewable energy sources such as coal.
China also saw the potential of a low-carbon economy and the revenue that will be made off of the production and sales of cleantech products. For this reason, China invested $34.6 billion dollars into green jobs in 2009. This investment will ultimately, provide continued economic growth for a country who has seen astronomic economic growth over the past two decades.
