Farmer’s markets are good because they bring together local goods. Many times there are more organic foods and this helps to save the environment by reducing fuels used for transportation and less pollution caused by pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals used to raise plants. In a supermarket, it is often hard to find local produce. In a farmers market there is much more variety when it comes to produce and it often has less packaging and uses less energy to be transported.
Farmers markets mainly focus on the selling of local products, including local and organic foods. This reduces any transportation and pesticide use in non-organic and non-local products. Local foods also may use less plastic in packaging, in that usually they are brought directly to the market from the local farm.
