On their government site, it states that air pollution is mainly contributed by motor vehicles and power plants. Their two greatest challenges are local street-level pollution and regional smog. The motor vehicles, especially diesel vehicles, are the main causes of high concentrations of respirable suspended particles like (RSPs) and nitrogen oxides. The government is aiming to reduce the levels. They actually have managed to reduce reduce street level pollution from 33% to 31% in 2009 (well, compared to 1999).
