Aerosols are liquid or solid particles suspended in the atmosphere and they can either be directly emitted into the atmosphere (primary aerosols like dust or a volcano eruption), or they can be formed in the atmosphere by condensation. Atmospheric aerosols affect the climate directly, because of the absorption of sunlight, and indirectly, can cause cloud formation. They block the sun’s rays.
