Why are activists angered by BBCs recent tests for electric cars?

The BBC tests were for distance rather than overall practicality. People are not expecting to take vacations in their electric cars; they just want a zero-emissions ride to work. Most families have more than one car, so they don’t need an electric car that gets 100 miles on a charge or more. Many electric car activists make their own electric cars with good old lead-acid batteries rather than the fancy lithium-ion batteries that are on the market today. Their cars get anywhere between 30-60 miles per charge, but that’s just fine because they usually keep or rent a gas-powered car for special occasions.
