The winners of the 2011 Sheik Zayed Book Award are as follows:
The winner in the category for Children’s Literature was Afaf Tabbalah from Egypt with his book titled, “Al Bayt Wal Nakhlah“.
Chung Jikon from China was named Cultural Personality of the Year.
The award for Best Contribution to the Development of the Country went to Dr. Abdel Raouf Sinno from Lebanon who wrote the book, “Harb Lubnan 1975-1990“.
The Translation award went to Mohammad Ziyad Kibbeh from Syria, who translated “Revolutionary Wealth” by Alvin and Heidi Toffler into “Al Tharwah wa Iqtisad Al Ma’rifah”.
The Literature award went to Dr. Mohammad Miftah from Morocco who wrote “Mafaheem Muwasa’a Li Nazaryah Shi’ryah“.
The 2011 Zayed Future Energy award winner:
Vestas – selected for its outstanding scale of achievement and its enviable track record – evolving from a country with little energy resources to a global leader in delivering renewable sousrces of power. For the last 30 years, Vestas has firmly promoted and established clean, renewable wind power as a mainstream and sustainable energy solution.
Two Runner-up prizes of $350,000 USD were awarded to:
Amory B Lovins, Chairman and Chief Scientist of the Rocky Mountain Institute,for his work on an “integrative design” methodology for energy efficient buildings, vehicles and factories.
E+Co, a clean-energy investment company, was awarded for its pioneering investments in the developing world. It supports and invests in small and growing clean energy enterprises in developing countries to impact climate change and energy poverty.
