Who was the oldest person to fly in space?

    John Glenn is the oldest person in space. At age 77 in 1998, he embarked on a 9 day flight to study the effects of space on the elderly. He was also the first American to orbit the Earth. During his mid-life, he was a senator for Ohio, where he supported diligently for the space program and pushed for nuclear and defense nonproliferation.
