The first European to land in the Americas in recorded history was Leif Erikson, a Norse colonist from Greenland. This group of Scandinavians established a settlement in what is now New Foundland Canada. There is some evidence that there may have been transatlantic voyages before this such as coca leafs in Egyptian tombs, but it is all conjecture at this point.
