Tim DeChristopher is an environmental activist who co-founded the group Peaceful Uprising, a group who seeks a livable future through non-violence. DeChristopher is most known for his protest of the sale of 116 parcels of public land in Utah’s red rock country for the purposes of drilling oil. DeChristopher bid $1.8 million on the land to prevent it from being drilled, but was removed from the auction by federal agents. He was given a two year jail sentence in July of 2011. He is still fighting for what he believes in.
