Stephen Schneider (1945-2010) was a biology professor at Stanford University who had become one of the world’s leading experts on climate change. He served on the Nobel-Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change, as well as consulting presidents from Nixon to Obama on the subject. He founded and edited the journal “Climatic Change” and involved himself heavily in the media, contributing to NOVA, Planet Earth, Discovery Channel, Nightline, Dateline, The Today Show, etc. etc. etc. He was described in his obituary as “a climate warrior.”
