Who protects gorillas in the wild?

There are several groups that have made it their mission to protect wild gorillas from habitat destruction and hunting. General conservation networks, such as Wildlife Direct and the World Wildlife Fund, include gorillas on their lists of species in special need of protection. There are nonprofit organizations specifically set up to raise money to protect gorillas, such as the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Then there are local-level groups that organize to protect gorillas right in their home environments, such as forest ranger gorilla-protection squads.
