George Emil Palade. He is one of the most well-known and influential cell biologists and important contributers to modern cell biology in the world for his disocery “concerning the structural and funtional organization of the cell” (The Noble Prize in Physiology or Medicine). He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1974 along with two other medical researchers, Professors Albert Claude and Christian de Duve -together they explained the “internal components of cells” (“Nobel Laureate for Disocveries in Cell Biology“). Palade discovered two of the familiarly known biological terms today -the ribosomes and enodplasmic reticulum.
