Between private ranches and national parks such as Yellowstone, buffalo herd have been making their comeback. The ranches bred them back into population in the late 1800’s. Yellowstone has between 3,000 and 3,500 buffalo in its park. Almost all of the bison being raised today are raised for human consumption, while the rest stay safe in parks and in the wild.
