In some cases, products or services you buy will come with an option to offset your carbon emissions. One example is airplane tickets, where you can pay an extra fee to the airline for offsets. Sometimes utilities have an opt-in system to pay extra to offset your carbon, which they will use on expanding their renewable fuel output. I would ask your utility company about how to do this; I’m sure they would be happy to put your money to good use. Otherwise, there are a myriad of environmental charities you can donate to, such as the Sierra Club.
