Who designed the LEED certification?

    The U.S. Green Building Council developed LEED in March of 2000. It is an internationally-recognized rating system that “promotes sustainable building and development practices through a suite of rating systems that recognize projects that implement strategies for better environmental and health performance.”

    The United States Green Building Council, based out of Washington D.C., developed the LEED Certification program. Their mission is “To transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.” You can go through a program to get LEED Certification as a consultant. There are over 170,000 certified people at this time.
