Georges Lemaitre, a Belgian priest, astronomer, and physics professor, is credited with the Big Bang theory. Lemaitre called the theory his ‘hypothesis of the primeval atom.’
The Big Bang Theory is attributed to Georges Lemaitre in 1931. The theory was further developed by George Gamow, who created big bang nucleosynthesis. Edwin Hubble’s measurements and observations helped lead to the theory, and also gave evidence that confirmed Lemaitre’s theory.
