Solid waste generated by private citizens and commercial operations generally ends up in landfills before it undergoes processing.  A landfill general manager is in charge of these operations.  According to data provided at the SalaryExpert website, a landfill general manager in the United States earned between $74,031 and $110,134 as of August 2010.
