The Yes Men is a group of large-scale hoaxers, attempting to point out social indiscretions and injustices by drawing attention to their ‘hijinx’. Their latest shenanigans include a large-scale press release mockery of Chevron’s new ad campaign, hours before Chevron’s actual campaign was to be released. The Yes Men have produced movies and books detailing their mission and actions.
One of my favorite pranks they have pulled off has been the “conflict-free” iPhone. This was to bring attention to some of Apple’s shadier sourcing practices that trace back to conflict ridden areas such as the Congo. Apple’s feathers were severely ruffled and they released a response letter addressing what the Yes men had accomplished. Linked below is that letter, an entertaining read!
