There has been a general discussion of a climate tipping point, when the weather heats up to a certain level that causes sudden and drastic changes, i.e. melting all the ice in Greenland. The scientists believe in a climate tipping point because after we have reached that point, damages may be irreversible. So it has become a way to prevent future natural disasters caused by a peak in global warming. There is some debate on when the tipping points are and if there are even signs of pending disaster. Studies have shown there are definite signs of climate change, but scientists disagree on how close we are to the tipping point.
