The differences in white sugar and brown sugar is not significant. In fact, it is often a myth that one is better than the other. Usually, brown sugar is just white sugar with molasses added. Raw (brown) sugar is more or less the same as white sugar with less processing.
smshako is correct. The only difference between white sugar and brown sugar is the fact that molasses is added to brown sugar. Because of this, brown sugar is just slightly higher in calories than white sugar, and slightly higher in nutrients. In terms of environmental impact, brown sugar is the worst choice, white is in the middle, and raw sugar is the most environmentally friendly. Please see the links below for more information.
