Which uses more energy, an electric stove or a gas stove?

    It takes a gas stove less energy to warm up. Therefore, gas stoves use less energy overall than electric stoves.

According to the Rocky Mountain Institute, this process spends three or four units of fuel in exchange for one unit of electricity. At the same time, gas stovetops are not environmentally perfect either, since they hook up to natural gas pipelines.

    According to this article, recently manufactured gas stoves are more eco-friendly than electric.

    The debate lies in whether the constant pilot light is more wasteful than the energy required to heat up an electric range. But newer gas models use an electric ignition which means no more constant pilot light.
