In 2008, beaches in Louisiana, Ohio and Indiana had the worst water quality. A study measured water quality by comparing water samples from beaches to a specific standard of pollution/contamination. The study also measured which of these states’ beaches were the most polluted. I’ve listed the most polluted beaches below.

Holly Beach 5 and Hackberry Beach in Cameron Parish; Cypremort Point State Park in St Mary’s Parish; Holly Beach 6, Long Beach, Little Florida, Holly Beach 4, Holly Beach 3, Constance Beach, and Gulf Breeze in Cameron Parish.

Lakeshore Park in Ashtabula County; Euclid State Park and Villa Angela State Park in Cuyahoga County; Bay View West in Erie County; Edgewater State Park in Cuyahoga County; Lakeview Beach and Century Beach in Lorain County; Edison Creek in Erie County; Camp Perry in Ottawa County; Huron River West in Erie County.

Jeorse Park Beach I, Jeorse Park Beach II, Buffington Harbor Beach, Lake Street Beach and Hammond Marina East Beach in Lake County; Indiana Dunes State Park East Beach in Porter County; Whihala Beach West in Lake County; Washington Park Beach in La Porte County; Marquette Park Beach in Lake County; Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore-Porter Beach in Porter County.
