As a genera rule, the planes that fly the highest have the greatest effect on the environment. High altitude planes, like commercial jets flying at 30,000ft, have the effect of creating cirrus clouds. Scientists are still struggling to fully understand the impacts of increased cloud formation on climate. What is known is that clouds have high albedo (reflectiveness), thus more high altitude clouds reflects more solar radiation, having a cooling effect on the world.
