Plutonium isn’t mined. It’s made from Uranium, which as of 2010 was mined in Utah, Colorado, Texas, Wyoming, Arizona, and Nebraska, though most U.S. uranium is imported from Canada and Australia. After the cold war the U.S. did not seek to produce new plutonium and rather recovered it from old weapons or batteries. However in 2005 the Bush administration proposed building new plutonium production facilities in an existing Idaho lab. I can’t find any information about whether the plan went through or not though the Idaho lab does work with plutonium.
