Bald eagles are most numerous in Alaska with a population of about 30,000. They are found near bodies of water: along the coasts, on off-shore islands, and near lakes or rivers. About 3,000 eagles fly to Chilkat Valley, Alaska in the fall to feed on all the wild salmon spawning. Golden eagles, however, are found all over in the entire Northern Hemisphere and most migrate South in the winter for food.
