Which state has the largest percentage of their land dedicated to farming and agriculture?

    According to the 2007 Census of Agriculture, Nebraska has the largest percentage of its land dedicated to farming: 92.5%

    South Dakota comes in 2nd place with 90.0% of its total land dedicated to farms. North Dakota is 3rd with farms composing 89.8% of its total land area. For the entire United States, farms make up 40.8% of the land.

    I believe this is Illinois, in which about 80% of the state’s land is used for agriculture.  That amounts to 28 million acres. The average farm size in Illinios is 368 acres.  Agriculture generates more than $9 billion annually for Illinois.
