I would say California is definitely making steps towards being one of the greenest states. Even though our air pollution levels are still pretty bad, they have gotten better, and California has taken steps to improve this. A lot of the air pollution is from cars, so the state has imposed strict auto-emission standards. There are also many cities in Southern California promoting water conservation.
In 2010, Vermont was named the greenest state by Tiny Green Bubble. One of the reasons they were awarded this title is because the citizens of Vermont are the most “resource efficent.” Also taken into consideration was the air and water quality, recycling rates, number of green businesses, etc. Following Vermont was New York, Washington, Oregon, and Minnesota.
