Cactus spines differ widely, so it is difficult to determine which species has the longest spines. In fact, even cacti within the same species may look different. Spines had a broad field of variation – they could be needle-like, flat, feather-like, hooked, straight, soft, thin, etc.. Some spines can grow up to 15 centimeters long.
