Some think Bangladesh is suffering pretty badly from increased natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, ocean encroachment, and droughts in the highlands. Farmers have reported more erratic weather which is bad for crops, thus threatening their food supply. Sea levels have already risen 20 centimeters since the mid-1800s and Bangladesh is mostly flat — largely a river delta. A mere 1 meter (100 cm) rise in sea levels would inundate 15 to 20% of Bangladesh, where 20 million people live.
