The Antarctic Ocean is the stormiest of all oceans.
Also known as the Southern Ocean this body of water is carried by the West Wind Drift moving the ocean from the west to the east across and around Antarctica. “This current mixes the ends of the Pacific, the Southern ends of the Atlantic, and the Indian Ocean. This area is also known as the “Roaring 40’s” (between latitude 40 and 50 degrees) due to the intensity and duration of the storms. This region is much more active during the Southern Hemisphere’s winter (the Northern Hemisphere’s summer), due to the tilt of the Earth’s axis and interactions between wind and heat distribution resulting from it.
