December tends to have the shortest days of any other month. This is because the Winter solstice occurs December 21st, the shortest day in the Northern Hemisphere. This occurs when the North Pole is pointed at it’s most extreme angle away from the sun. At this point of the year, the sun stays the closest to the horizon, creating a shorter amount of time it provides light to us.
