Showering, generally is more eco-friendly than taking a bath. The average bath uses 30-50 gallons of water, while the average 8 minute shower uses around 20-25, assuming you have a decent low flow shower head. However, if you are one of those people who likes to sit in the water for a long period of time, then choose a bath because the amount of water you will use for the shower will pass the amount in a bath after 15-20 minutes.
The key issue here is how much water you’re using. The easiest way to find out if you use more water showering than bathing is to plug the drain while you shower and see how far the bathtub fills up. If you have a low-flow shower head, showering is likely the most water-efficient method.
