There are a number of industries that expose workers to lead and lead to a higher risk of lead poisioning. Some of these industries include: electrical work, ship building and repair, welding repair, stained glass artists, and plastics. All of these industries involve: 1) heating, machining, or spraying lead products, 2) manufacturing lead products, 3) removing lead castings, or 4) smelting or casting lead.
The paint industry and the gasoline industry both had lead in their products which was widely dispersed at the time. While it’s banned now, leaded gasoline at one time produced particular lead throughout the atmosphere, and the paint industry means that any hosue painted before 1978 has lead in it.
