That is a very interesting question. There is only one ecosystem that I know of that indirectly depends on fire, or in this case more precisely heat from the Earth’s core. These are the ecosystems that exist around the thermal vents in the ocean fall near and around plate techtonic rifts. Here specialized tube worms and bacteria thrive in the superheated plumes of minerals that are expelled and could not survive in colder temperatures.
