Nissan is still figuring out which markets will get the car at what time, out of the 27 governments around the world with which it has partnerships. It will first be delivered to early select customers in all of these countries (fleets and elite auto consumers), but over the next couple of years a wider commercial push is expected. As for North America specifically, Nissan has promised that the leaf will be ready as early as next year for special American clientele. It will then start to be sold in U.S. cities that have the necessary infrastructure to support electric vehicle owners, cities like Phoenix and Tucson in Arizona; San Diego and Sonoma County in California; Raleigh, North Carolina; Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and Seattle, Washington.
