Germany is the clear leader in this category, producing 9785mw of electricity through solar power. In 2009 alone, Germany installed 3806 megawatts (MW) of PV solar energy capacity, which is more than Spain’s total capacity and almost eight times more than the U.S. installed last year. Spain is second when it comes to utilizing solar power producing 3386mw of power a year. Next on the list comes Japan (2633mw) and then the United States (1650mw). These statistics are taken from 2010.
