Looking at statistics, in 1999 the countires that consumed the most water bottles per year were the following: (1) the United States, (2) Mexico and (3) Italy. At that time, the U.S. consumed a startling 17.5 billion liters of water bottles. Mexico consumed 11.5 billion while Italy consumed 9 billion liters. If you fastforward to a couple years later in 2004, the U.S. water bottle consumption went up to 26 billion liters. However, if you look at water bottle consumption per person then the rankings differ. Italy takes the place as the per capita water bottle consumption country in the world. The U.S. actually ranks tenth in this respect.
