South Africa has the highest rates of TB in the world. 10 out of every 1000 people lived with the disease while 2 out of every 1000 died from the disease in 2006. 44% of those with TB also have HIV in South Africa. The global cure rate for TB is 78% but in South Africa the cure rate is only at 58%.
As of 2007, India had the most recorded cases of tuberculosis at 1,961,825. However, Swaziland had the highest number of people per 100,000 that had tuberculosis – 1,198.
