India is the highest milk producing country in the world. Annually, the country produces about 100 million tons. Much of the milk produced is through low input/yield systems, which means it is done by hand and delivered to local villages. The cows are fed residual crop materials like hay and grass. This kind of milk production is opposite from that in the US, which is high yield, factory like milk production, which cows are bred specifically for milk production.
India is the world’s largest dairy producer, averaging about 110,040,000,000 kg of milk per year. The second place nation is the United States, averaging 85,859,000,000 kg annually.
