According to the CIA Factbook, the country with the lowest poverty rate is Taiwan with only 1.16 percent of its population falling below the poverty line.
That is actually a much more complicated question than it first appears to be. Since different countries calculate their “poverty line” differently, a poor person in America may actually be more wealthy than a middle-class person in another country. Plus, Americans are also having smaller families than people in other countries. So, their resources are not being stretched as thinly.
