The nation with the largest reserves of natural gas is Russia, leading the world with 1,680 trillion cubed feet of proven reserves. This is not surprising, as Russia’s land area spans close to 5% of the Earth’s surface. The distant second on the list is Iran, with 971 trillion cubed feet, followed by Qatar (911 tr. cu ft), Saudi Arabia (241 tr. cu. ft), United Arab Emirates (214 tr. cu. ft) and the United States (193 tr. cu. ft). The top 20 nations on the list total 5,510 trillion cubed feet, and the rest of the world contains a paltry 602 trillion cubed feet, totaling 6,112 trillion cubed feet worldwide.
