In 2007 the United States was recorded as having 819 motor vehicles per 1,000 people. This was only third highest rate of motor vehicles but it was also the only country in the top 10 with a population over 100,000,000. Making it by far the country with highest number of motor vehicles.
The United States is a rather wealthy and industrialized nation, so it’s very easy for a citizen to own a car. However, this has created some obvious environmental and economic problems for the country throughout the last couple decades. Gas prices are soaring and climate change continues to get worse. Since the United States does have the largest number of cars, I think we should set a better example by driving more eco-friendly cars and reducing our environmental impact.
