Corn Ethanol has the potential to make global warming worse because of its damaging effects on soil. Corn a type of crop that needs ot be rotated, meaning that it can only be used for corn in a cyclical fashion or else it will strip the soil of nutrients it needs. If people are short cited and try to produce corn for ethanol on too high of a scale or too quickly, it could lead a depressed soil quality around the country.
In addition, ethanol production run-offs have been documented as damaging to aquatic life, and although the extent of this damage is unknown, it could be particularly damaging to aquatic life that lives near coasts or in inland bodies of water
