The Volkswagen Polo won the title in 2010 with a score of 347 points. It barely beat out the Toyota iQ by a ten point margin. The bronze medal went to the Opel/Vauxhall Astra with 221 points. This is the first Car of the Year Title that Volkswagen has won in 18 years. With a 1.2 litre TSI turbo this energy efficient vehicle boasts “an average fuel consumption of 3.3 litre/100km, equivalent to an emission of 87 g/km of CO2”. The jurors have begun voting on nominees for the 2012 Car of Year selection.
