Which is better for the environment…a gas dryer or an electric dryer?

Natural gas is often cleaner than the source used to generate electricity by your power company. You may want to find out the source percentages of your local power provider to see what they are using. Typically, natural gas dryers are fairly efficient. Note also that there are conversion kits to convert a natural gas dryer for propane usage if you live in an area where propane is available.

Another consideration is change of the power grid over time. As green energy sources are becoming more viable due to storage systems, it is likely that your grid power will become more green over time, whereas the natural gas appliances will still be using natural gas.
