This is only one measure of how green a country is, but the Asian country that has the lowest amount of carbon emissions per capita is Myanmar, or Burma. It ranks 184 out of 210 countries.
In 2005, Yale University’s Center for Environmental Law and Policy and Columbia University’s Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN), in collaboration with the World Economic Forum came up with an Environmental Sustainability Index (ESI). The ESI is a composite index tracking 21 indicators of environmental sustainability. According to the rankings, Malaysia is at the top of the list of all Southeast Asian countries. “Malaysia’s environmental policies are the most comprehensive and the most efficiently implemented in Southeast Asia. They even offer incentives for the Storage, Treatment and Disposal of Toxic and Hazardous Wastes.”
