Which animal has to drink the most water?

Well, one animals might need less total over their lifetime but not end up drinking as much as a less thirsty animal 4 times its size.

I was not able to find which animal in relation to body weight drinks the most water, but it appears that the camel and the elephant tie for highest intake at one time.  The camel can go for months without water, even losing 40% of its body weight, but once the opportunity presents itself they can drink 35 gallons in ten minutes and 50 over a few hours.  In elephants, 40 gallons.

And in case you were speaking of alcohol, the Malaysian pen-tailed tree shrew consumes more alcohol than any other animal, subsisting on fermented fruits that have a 3.8 percent alcohol content.
