During feeding season, blue whales, the largest animals on earth, can eat up to 4 to 8 tons of food (mainly krill) per day. They eat a lot less during traveling and breeding season.
The land animal with the largest appetite is the elephant, who is not coincidentally the largest of land animals. Elephants eat anywhere from 140–270 kg (300–600 lb) of food per day.
