South Africa has also been in the news this week, since it is experiencing its worst drought in 20 years, which will cause it to have the smallest sugar harvest since ’95.

In Niger, it seems there is a much more dire situation–intense flooding has exacerbated hunger following the drought. 10,000 tons of food are needed, and the 7 million suffering make of half of the country’s population. Chad and Mali are similarly affected by this drought.
